This book is Rhea’s manifesto as she reflected back on near 15 years of working as a professional in the workers compensation and personal injury system in Australia. It was one moment in 2014 as she sat crying on the couch looking into her infant son’s eyes, Rhea decided to quit her job and redesign her life so that her work could again reflect her personal values. Compo reflects back upon Rhea’s childhood experiences and the family values instilled by her parents, and speaks of her own failures and that of the system which lead her to forgetting the spirit and mission of healthcare.

Having had the privilege of meeting and working with thousands of people, Rhea shares the human stories at the heart of her work and muses on how these lives have impacted upon her own.

Rhea’s journey moves from being an outcome focused, profit-driven professional to recognising how getting back to her values and principles has led to greater effectiveness, efficiency, wellbeing and a better business model.

Along the way, Rhea busts some commonly-held beliefs about workers compensation and shares her optimism about the future of the healthcare and rehabilitation system.
